This book is about a Jewish man who starts with an overcoat and it gets worn down so he cuts it and turns it into a vest. Then, the vest gets worn down so he cuts it and turns it into a scarf. He keeps doing this until he has just a button left.
As a Jew, I found it hilarious and a story that really reinforces stereotypes of how cheap we can be that we won’t even buy a new fucking coat when we need it.
Also, they made it very clear (and wonderfully Jewish-mom-passive-aggressive) to shame his other sister who is not married by clarifying he went to visit his married, specific sister.
Rating: 5/5 - Stereotype enforcing or not, I want my quarter Jewish child to read books about Jewish people. I also think I would enjoy reading this over and over again.
